Chapter Fourteen

Time was running out.

Karim could feel the Easifat fading down to his bones. In the past, he didn’t feel it as keenly as he did now. Maybe it was because now he was the bearer of The Great One, he was much more connected to the magic in the sandstorms.

Or maybe it was because as the Easifat wound down, so did his time with Desiree. Slipping through his fingers like grains of sand.

“You should get some sleep.”

Her soft, warm body was curled up against his side, an arm thrown over his chest. They had just finished another vigorous lovemaking session. He thought he would surely get enough of her by now, but his desire only seemed to grow stronger. As soon as he came back from his flight this morning, he woke her up. “I see. So, I guess that means you don’t have any other needs to be satisfied.”
